Kevin Porter Jr. NBA Draft Profile

Kevin Porter Jr.6-5215SGUSCJr.

Bio:

Porter Jr. started out his only season at USC pretty strong but never really came along. As the season went on, he struggled even more. He ended up averaging just under 10 points per game and received only 22 mpg. His ability to get his own shot and score is definitely what he does best and even though he has moments where he looks like a top 5 pick, there are also moments where he looked like he should go undrafted. With some more consistency he could be a good scorer in the NBA or at least an offensive threat off the bench.

NBA Comparison: James Harden / Nick Young

Porter Jr. is a big James Harden fan and models his game after him. Unfortunately this hurt his shot selection as Harden takes a lot of tough shots that Porter tried to emulate at USC. A fellow trojan is a more likely comparison for Porter. While Nick Young gets a bad rap for being a knucklehead, he was a great player off the bench and played key roles at the end of his career on good NBA teams. Young also had 3 seasons in the NBA averaging over 16 ppg. Porter Jr. will hopefully settle into a role such as Young had and have a long NBA career.
