Celtics Looking to Move Up in the Draft?

The Boston Celtics have 5 picks in this draft, the most of any team. Now the Celtics roster doesn’t have enough room to take on 5 rookies, or even 3 rookies to give minutes to. Packaging some of these picks to move up in the draft definitely would make sense.

There could also be some major holes in the Celtics roster next season, especially at the point guard position. Terry Rozier said a lot of not so good things about his season in Boston after they were eliminated from the playoffs. It seems his days in Boston are numbered. Kyrie Irving has also had his struggles in Boston and it looks like he is either headed to the Nets or Lakers.

A move up for the Celtics in this draft could look like this:

  • Boston sends the 14th and 20th and 22nd pick
  • Cleveland sends the 5th pick
  • Boston selects PG Darius Garland or Coby White
  • Cleveland gets 3 first round picks to build a young core with

If Cleveland is not high on any player after the first 4 selections have been made, then this is a no brainer. With picks 14, 20 and 22, Cleveland could potentially get Tyler Hero, Bol Bol, and Kevin Porter. Those are 3 players all with high potential.
